This collection includes publications, brochures, travel guides, schedules, newsletters, passenger lists, maps and daily bulletins from the steamship companies traveling to Alaska from the late 1800’s.
The collection contains photographs of Strong, Bone and Gruening, 3 of the 15 Alaska Territorial governors listed as follows.
Photos primarily concern Alaska railroads and aviation including planes, pilots (including Carl Ben Eielson, Joe and Marvel Crosson, Wiley Post and Will Rogers) accidents and airports around Alaska. Some photos are not Alaska-related. Boxes 2-4 contain mounted images, some of which are duplicates of prints. They do not have Historical Collections PCA numbers and are not included in this finding aid.
A small album of black and white photos, circa 1919, loose b and w photos, and a few postcard pictures of a journey through B.C. and Southeast Alaska, White Pass, and Yukon Route. The album includes photographs of the Admiral Evans, the Alameda, the Admiral Wilson and some Yukon River steamboats. The photographer or collector is unknown.
