The items describe a traveler's trip through interior Alaska; Dawson and Whitehorse, Yukon Territory; Lake Atlin and Lake Bennett, B.C.; White Pass and Yukon Route railroad trip to Skagway, Alaska and on to Port Chilkoot, Juneau and Petersburg and the Inside Passage.

Scope and Contents The Puttonen Collection consists of two scrapbooks and a published album of the work of the 340th Engineer Regiment on the Alaska Military Highway from 1942-1943. The album is titled: Lower Post or Freeze and was published in 1944 by the Herald Press Inc., of Charlotte, N.C. The two albums have little, if any, descriptive text identifying the pictures they hold.The first album – the smaller of the two – has no cover and typically has as many as nine (2” x 2”) photos per page. ...

This collection has two series. The first series consists of seven oversize radar stereo images, radar image mosaics, and a radar image map of Ugashik. The second series contains stereograms of Alaskan glaciers within the First Judicial Division, prepared from the U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey photography by the University of Illinois. The collection is organized by stereogram number.

Scope and Contents Many of the photographs were taken in 1974 by North Pacific Aerial Survey, Inc. of Anchorage for the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and used to document land selection and land claims for the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act.
