This collection includes views around the city of Juneau, unidentified individuals, and group portraits. One of the unidentified individuals may be Arthur Walther. Some of the photographs were taken during a union strike in the late 1930s. The few papers include notes, envelopes, identification cards, and receipts. Some of the papers are related to the labor unions and a number of the items belonged to Victor Grimm, a member of the local union.

The collection includes a published book of music in the Russian Language, with two notebooks containing transliterations of text. The text contained in the notebooks seems to correspond to the songs in the published book of music.

This collection documents the preliminary survey and early construction of the Alaska Railroad, ca. 1915-1917. Views include railroad survey and construction work, bridges, the towns of Fort Seward, Anchorage, Seward and Cordova, a portrait of Thomas Guy Wansbury and a panorama of the original railroad survey crew. Scope and Contents Two letters from George to Ila and her family describe life in Juneau in the mid-1930’s. Includes a poignant account of the landslide in downtown Juneau, November 1936 in which 15 people died and mud was 20 feet high on Franklin Street, Juneau’s main throughfare. Webb describes “bathtubs … mashed flat [and] pipes … twisted into all shapes.” Another item from Mary, 1936, is a Christmas greeting to Ila and her family.
