Biographical Note
William Wanamaker Sr. (grandfather of donor, Brian Wallace) spoke Slavonic Russian, Tagalog, Serbian, Tlingit, French and English. He was choir director of St. Michael's Church in Sitka and later St. Nicholas in Juneau where he was a Reader. He came to Juneau in 1933 to work in the Alaska Juneau Gold Mine. He died of Black Lung disease in about 1945. In the late 1950s Amos Wallace, the donor's father, became choir director. Amos and Dorothy Wallace were lifelong members of the Russian Orthodox Church.
