Biographical
Brian Wallace is the son of Amos Louis Wallace (1921 -2004), Jeet Yaaw Dustaa of the Duk dein taan clan of the Sockeye house of Glacier Bay and Hoonah by way of Lituya Bay. He is also the son of Dorothy Wallace (1916-2006), Naats’ Tlaa of the Sitka Kaagwaantaan clan, two door house, in the Chichagof Island community of Chatham. Dorothy Wallace was daughter to William Wanamaker Sr. His papers and photographs are housed at the State Historical Collections. A professional photographer whose photographs represent Juneau and Alaska prominently, Brian Wallace was employed by the Juneau Empire for thirty years and currently freelances.
Amos Louis Wallace (1921 -2004), Jeet Yaaw Dustaa of the Duk dein taan clan of the Sockeye house of Glacier Bay and Hoonah by way of Lituya Bay, lived in Juneau from 1926 until his death May 27, 2004. He worked as a master carver, fisherman, and construction worker. He was a renowned Tlingit artist whose totem poles, jewelry, and other works are housed in museums and private collections across the United States. Amos Wallace was a lifetime member of the Alaska Native Brotherhood and held every office in the organization. Also a church reader and choir leader, Amos Wallace also held several offices at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in the Aleutians. He received many awards and recognitions, including “Living Cultural Treasure” by the Central Council of Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska.
Dorothy Wallace (1916-2006), Naats’ Tlaa of the Sitka Kaagwaantaan clan, two door house, was born July 27, 1916 in the Chichagof Island community of Chatham. She came to Juneau in 1926. She married William Leslie Jack when she was twenty. After his death, she married Amos Louis Wallace; they were married 44 years, until his death. Dorothy Wallace was a longtime leader of the Alaska Native Sisterhood Camp 2 and held every office in the organization. She was named to the Juneau GED Hall of Fame for her work in adult education and recruitment of students into the program. She, like Amos, was a lifetime member and supporter of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church. Dorothy Wallace was daughter to William Wanamaker Sr. His papers and photographs are at the State Historical Collections in MS239 and PCA520.

Processing Information
Items have been placed in Mylar, acid free folders, and into an archival box. The collection has been described at the folder level with a portion numbered and described at the item level. The Wallace Family Collection, MS 261 (Brotherhood Bridge document and two photographs) was merged into this collection, see Folder 7.
