Scope and Contents

Lorain Roberts Zacharias collected photographs from several locations with views primarily of mining activities in Dawson and Chisana (also known as Shushana, Shushanna, or Qhisina), family views, and scenics. Photographers represented in the collection include Winter & Pond, Case & Draper, Wolfe, L.H. Smith, and J. Doody. The collection also contains a mining claim location notice, notes with penciled drawing from her husband, and other papers.

Scope and Contents

Historical review of the bottling and use of Zarembo Island, Alaska, mineral water by the Zarembo Mineral Springs Co. of Seattle, the business people, and companies that had a connection; Zarembo mineral water won a gold medal at the 1904 Lewis & Clark Centennial and had a major display at the 1909 Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition.

Content Description The F. A. (Frederick A.) Zeusler papers, 1900-ca. 1981, contain materials written by and collected by Zeusler during his life. Content Description Zeusler collected photographs, films, and slides, many of which he may have photographed himself. The largest group consists of images (photographs, films, slides, and glass lantern slides) of Alaska, both the Southeast and Arctic. Many of the arctic images may have originated from his Coast Guard Ice Patrol voyages to that area in the 1930s.
