Yukon Territory 1901 Census Records Salvaged After the Sinking of the S.S. Islander, August 15, 1901

Scope and Contents The holograph records are most likely the Yukon Territory’s 1901 census, salvaged from the S. S. Islander after the steamer sank twelve miles south of Juneau on August 15, 1901. On one sheet the name of enumerator, Coutts, is visible. Parts of the records are illegible.

Scope and Contents Lorain Roberts Zacharias collected photographs from several locations with views primarily of mining activities in Dawson and Chisana (also known as Shushana, Shushanna, or Qhisina), family views, and scenics. Photographers represented in the collection include Winter & Pond, Case & Draper, Wolfe, L.H. Smith, and J. Doody. The collection also contains a mining claim location notice, notes with penciled drawing from her husband, and other papers.
