Content Description

The 35 mm transparencies (color and black and white) in this collection represent art pieces purchased by the State of Alaska from 1975-1983. No slides have been received since 1983.

An exhibit catalog entitled Collection describes the artwork purchased from 1975-1980. An additional list is included of acquisitions added after the publication, until 1982.

Resumes of the artists represented are filed at the beginning of the collection.

Scope and Contents This collection is part of the Alaska State Housing Authority (ASHA) planning library. It includes city planning studies, surveys, brochures, maps and other material produced by or for municipalities and other collected data on them used by ASHA in their work. The community file is arranged alphabetically by names of Alaskan communities. Several communities such as Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Sitka had extensive files so cross references reflect which boxes are devoted to those communities....

Contains photographs, aerial photographs, negatives and slides of housing and housing construction activities in various communities and villages, construction workers, and residents. Black and white as well as color images are included. Some of the homes and people are identified. ASHA slideshow with script shows the changes to Alaska rural life, various impacts on Alaska rural living and the need for planning (1970).

The collection includes correspondence, speeches, papers, minutes, reports, and other records documenting the conception and early days of the Alaska State Library. The collection also includes some records of the Alaska Historical Association. Although the documents include the 1920-1998 time-period, the bulk of the collection is from 1954-1982. Scope and Contents This collection consists of a compilation, by Eric Knapp, of commemorative cover projects of the Anchorage Philatelic Society (actually, beginning with the Anchorage Stamp Club in 1941), updated through 2000.The first four volumes of the cover collection consist of four volumes (in binders) containing 154 covers (1941 – 1997).
