Interior views of the Treadwell Foundry, Treadwell Mines, Douglas Island, Alaska and a photocopied reproduction of an interior view of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Douglas, photographed by C.L. Andrews. Three of the photos were taken by Mary Fleek in the early 1930s. Also included are photos of the Juneau Douglas ferryboat “Teddy” and a Chinese Grave Marker in a Douglas Island cemetery.

Fort William H. Seward Photographs, ca. 1908-1909
Many of the photographs are of soldiers from the 22nd Infantry, A and F Company, at Fort William H. Seward in Haines, Alaska, 1908-1909. The images include portraits of the soldiers, the men reading and playing cards in their barracks, and the 22nd Infantry Regimental Band and their instruments. One photograph is an image of Co. F leaving March 27, 1908 for Treadwell, Alaska, for duty in connection with a miners’ strike there.

This collection contains sixty black and white photographs. Several are commercial photos by photographer Ordway. The rest are photos taken and collected by Edward Foster. The photographs are of buildings in Haines, crew members, and construction of the Alaska Highway near Haines.
