Content Description

The images in this collection include prints from other museums, Alaska road projects, petroglyphs of Wrangell, totems and totem restoration beginning in 1980, residents of Wrangell, Alaska Natives, businesses and others. An index to the images is located in the collection.

Scope and Contents

The photographs were identified by Lee McAnerney, Juneau, who lived in Seward. The pictures were taken of Seward, Resurrection Bay, Kenai Lake, Seward to Anchorage Highway, Richardson Highway, Gulkana and other places in the Kenai Peninsula area in the late 1930s or early 1940s. A few are identified as being taken by the Glacier Photo Service (Harry Johnson) in Seward and by Sylvia’s (Sylvia Sexton) Photo Finishing in Seward. All of the pictures are 5"x7" and commercially processed.

The second, the objections of the Sitka Pioneers Home staff to Bill #74. This bill was introduced to double the stipend the Pioneers living in the home receive each month. The staff objected on the basis that certain Pioneers used their entire stipend each month to buy alcohol which then caused hardship to the staff and other Pioneers...
