Scope and Contents Two letters from George to Ila and her family describe life in Juneau in the mid-1930’s. Includes a poignant account of the landslide in downtown Juneau, November 1936 in which 15 people died and mud was 20 feet high on Franklin Street, Juneau’s main throughfare. Webb describes “bathtubs … mashed flat [and] pipes … twisted into all shapes.” Another item from Mary, 1936, is a Christmas greeting to Ila and her family. This small collection contains photographs of Fairbanks businesses, the old Chena River Bridge, sunsets, wild flowers and a 3-hour timed exposure of a sunset in which the moon created a streak across the sky. Additional photographs were donated in 2005 from the William T. Dunn Estate. William Dunn’s mother was Kathleen Pearl Welden; Joseph Welden was Dunn’s great uncle.

The Werner Papers consist of three folders representing Werner’s interests from 1937 - 1951. Two folders contain monthly bulletins and other items of the Juneau Ski Club, 1937 - 1949. The third folder contains mimeograph copies of correspondence and treasurer’s report for the Alaska Logging Association for the year 1951. Photographs and other papers form a separate collection, PCA 3.
