Scope and Contents

The album belonged to Charles Newbold Black of San Francisco and may have been a souvenir of a hunting trip taken in Southeast Alaska in 1919. The majority of the photos were probably taken by Winter and Pond, early Juneau photographers; however only five are signed. Mostly scenics, the subjects include Thane, Alaska, Perseverance Mine, fishing, fish processing, the yacht "Aquilo," and others.

Content Description Many of the slides show hunting and mining activity in the Talkeetna area and across the Susitna River where Blair had claims on Dutch Creek in the foothills of Mount McKinley.
