Biographical
George Gay Blackmer was born January 1, 1879, in Boston, Massachusetts. He was reared in Boston and attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology. During 1912 and 1913 George Blackmer was a member of the International Boundary Surveys between Canada and Alaska. In 1915 he married Hannah Lauretta Spittle and moved to Juneau, where he worked as an engineer for the Alaska Juneau Gold Mining Co. and the Alaska Gastineau Mining Company until 1917. The Blackmers lived in the Cliff Apartments on Front Street. George Blackmer died Dec. 28, 1949, in Pasadena, California.
