"Klondike". The Klondike is the newest and most luxurious hotel in Skagway, the Goldrush Gateway City. Built in 1967, the Klondike is owned and operated by Westours, Inc., Alaska's largest travel organization. Skagway is the northern terminus of the Inside Passage run made by Westour's cruise ships, and the Alaska State Ferry System.

"Skagway, Alaska" is the terminal of the White Pass and Yukon Railway which has been running since 1898 between Skagway, Lake Bennett, and Whitehorse, Yukon. The Golden North Hotel on Main Street is seen on the right and the beautiful Chilkoot Mountains in the distance.

Hunters from the village of Ukivok, King Island, Bering Sea, Alaska, pull their skin boat or "oomiak" across the shore ice. During the spring, the men hunt walrus and seal. In the background is the cliff-hanging village. In the foreground is a walrus hide taken the previous day.
