The photographs were taken by Lee Lucas who worked with Robert Fleek at the Supply Quonset in Juneau. Lucas previously had worked as a professional photographer for Ordway and Lu-Eck. Photos include buildings, personnel, aircraft, aerials, and activities at the Naknek Air Base in 1944. According to Fleek, Naknek Air Base is now King Salmon.

This collection contains 96 negative images that illustrate Mr. Nekoranec’s living conditions while stationed in the Aleutian Islands during World War II. Of the 96 negatives in this collection, 41 have been scanned and a computer-generated print has been made of each of these. Subjects include: soldiers, locations, construction, animals, airplanes, cemetery, church, Alaska Natives.

Guides and documents accompanying the 104 Video Recordings (AV 025) related to the Exxon Valdez oil spill, 1989-1991, documented by the State of Alaska Governor’s Office. The guides are descriptions of the 335 VHS tapes and 2,018 slides located in the Alaska State Archives, Record Group 348 Series 612.

Scope and Contents This collection consists of diary copies, reports, and photographs recording Mr. Nettleton’s impressions, observations, and work as the Assistant Special Agent of the Treasury Department on the Pribilof Islands, Alaska, from 1889-1892. Nettleton began his diary two years previous to the start of his position with the Treasury Department. Scope and Contents The Daniel S. Neuman papers consist in large part of the Paul Silook journals possibly told to or transcribed by or for Dr. Neuman by Silook. Paul Silook was an anthropologist who gathered data on the Bering Strait and northern Alaska from 1912 to the mid-1940s. The journals, mostly in Dr. Neuman’s handwriting, contain Eskimo stories and legends. Content Description The collection portrays life in Nome, Alaska, during the early 1900s, including images of the sled dog races which began there. Original photographs from the Canadian Arctic Expedition, 1913-1918, identifies Northwest Territory Inuit from Coronation Gulf, Cape Bathurst, Dolphin and Union Straits, and Bernard Harbor.
