Scope and Contents This is a collection of 24 photographs with descriptions showing the terrain along the North Fork of the Koyukuk River north of Wiseman, Alaska. The file includes two maps of the Koyukuk and Hammond River drainages by Robert Marshall and others.Marshall was in the region during the summers of 1929, 1930, and 1931 and the winter of 1930-31, studying tree-growth at its northernmost limit and mapping the area. Scope and Contents The 4½ x 7½" and 7¼ x 9¼" platinum-finished, albumen prints are mounted on gilt-edged gray boards. The album is bound in leather and was published by Mayo and Weed, Chicago-based photographers. Mayo and Weed photographers accompanied a tour to Alaska in 1891 and published the images from that tour, which include Yellowstone Park, geysers, the Grand Canyon, Washington, Victoria and British Columbia, as well as southeast Alaska towns and glaciers. These copy prints show Skagway, Whitehorse, White Pass and Yukon Railway, Soapy Smith, Lynn Canal construction at Dyea, Frank Reid’s funeral, the Russian Church at Sitka and Foster Glacier. The papers consist of one medium, three-ring notebook dictionary, arranged alphabetically by English word or terms followed by Inupiaq expression or word, phonetically rendered. Some special and/or related terms are grouped at the end of the volume. One final page is a "List of School Children at Council, 1912". The twenty photographs include views of White Mountain and Council, Alaska, the graduating classes of 1928 and 1929, and Mr. McCollister and other U.S. Government educators.

Views of Cordova, Sitka, Killisnoo, Shakan, Metlakatla, Kootsnahoo, the Yukon and Tanana Rivers and Illiamna. Tlingit canoes, a war canoe, Killisnoo Cemetery and a witch doctor’s grave are included in the images.
