Scope and Contents

This collection contains two family photographs, handwritten notes, and newspaper clippings relating to mining in the Klondike, Yukon Territory. They were written and collected by Andrew Baird.

This collection contains photographs primarily of Skagway, Dyea and the Chilkoot Trail. The images were taken by photographers A. C. Hirschfield (Hirchfeld), H. C. (Harrie) Barley and E. A. Hegg.

Scope and Contents The Asa C. Baldwin original photograph collection includes views of the Alaska Canada boundary survey from Demarcation Bay on the Arctic Ocean to Mount St. Elias from 1907 to 1913. The photos were taken by Baldwin while he worked as a surveyor for the U.S. Government on the boundary survey. In addition, the collection contains photos, dated 1916-1942, of the Yellow Band Gold Mine located in Bremner Range near Chitina, McCarthy, Alaska, as well as general Alaskana. Scope and Contents The Asa C. Baldwin manuscript collection includes writings, maps, and information about work done on the Alaska Canada boundary survey from Demarcation Bay on the Arctic Ocean to Mount St. Elias from 1910 to 1913. The collection also includes papers documenting Baldwin’s activities on prospecting, surveying and work at the Yellow Band Gold Mine near Chitna-McCarthy in the Bremner Range.
