Sheldon Jackson College Archives
The Sheldon Jackson College Archives includes administrative files, correspondence, photographs, oral histories, moving images, and a wealth of information about the operations of the college beginning in the 1880s through its closure in 2007. Also includes the William Paul Collection, which relates primarily to Alaska Native land claims.
Several classification schemes and finding aids are available, each covering portions of the original collections.
Sheldon Museum (Haines, Alaska) Photograph Collection, 1898-1976
The collection includes views of Haines and Fort William Henry Seward, the Chilkoot trail, Chilkat and Klukwan Natives, potlatch preparations, and Porcupine. Photographers represented in the collection include Stephen Sheldon (donor’s father), J. M. Blankenberg, H.C. Barley, Frank LaRoche, Elisabeth Sheldon Hakkinen.

The photographs include many scenes from Fairbanks to Petersburg in the 1920’s, such as one of the City of Douglas fires, airplanes, the Detroit expedition, the pilot Wiley Post, the City of Fairbanks fire.. Locations include: Anchorage, Cordova, Douglas, Eklutna, Fairbanks, Haines, Juneau, Ketchikan, LaTouche, Petersburg, Seward, Sitka, Skagway, Valdez and Wrangell.

Papers include land indenture, agreements, affidavit, property description, correspondence and other documents concerning the Pederson Dairy and the Glacier Highway Electric Association from 1932-1987.

An album of Case and Draper, Hegg, Hirschfeld and Blankenburg photographs of Dyea , Skagway, gold mines and mining. Includes an image of Soapy Smith on horseback, Frank Reid in the hospital (?), the Treadwell Gloryhole.
