An ongoing collection of U.S. Coast Guard activities in Alaska, primarily the 17th Division, which includes slides and photographs of patrol, search and rescue, the Exxon Valdez oil spill, law enforcement, lighthouses, Coast Guard vessels, icebreakers, bases, aircraft, Bering Sea fisheries, individuals. The folder titled Lighthouses (folder 5) contains a range of photos mostly from 1915-ca. 1930s. The bulk dates for the collection are the 1980s.

The U.S. Coast Guard cutter MIDGETT, a 378-ft high endurance cutter escorts the Taiwanese fishing vessel TA CHIEH #3 into midway after the vessel was caught fishing illegally on the high seas in violation of Taiwanese laws.

Taiwanese crewmen aboard the TA CHIEH #3 are caught throwing evidence (salmon) overboard after illegally catching salmon on the high seas in violation of Taiwanese laws. USCGC MIDGETT escorted the vessel into midway where it was ordered back to Taiwan.
