A total of 41 microwave stations, along with a satellite system as backup, make up the backbone communications system for the pipeline. The system, installed by RCA Alaska Communications, Inc., was accepted recently by Alyeska Pipeline Service Company., 1974 - 1977

A concrete slab is poured into a ditch in the Atigun Pass of the Brooks Mountain Range. The slab will be part of an insulation box through which the four-foot diameter trans Alaska pipeline will be installed.
