Scope and Contents

The album is a collection of photographs by William H. Case and Herbert H. Draper. Many of the photographs are of places and subjects of interest in the Juneau, Sitka, Wrangell, and Ketchikan areas in Southeast Alaska. The collection spans the years from 1886-1913.

Biographical Note

Thomas L. Thompson, of the Richmond Highlands near Seattle, was a trader and commercial fisherman who made many trips to Alaska. The donor assumes that his father-in-law collected the photographs and assembled the album as a result of his many trips to Alaska.

Acquisition

Donald M. Franett, son-in-law of Thomas L. Thompson, donated the collection to the Alaska State Library in June 2000. Robert M. Thorstenson, Seattle, assisted in the transfer. (Acc. no. 2000-42)

Processing Information

The photo album was retained in its original condition. Photo corners were added. Loose photos were housed in Mylar and placed in an acid free folder. All items were placed in an archival box.
