Project Chariot Marine Mammal Study, Cape Thompson, 1960-61. The images were taken while Burton Ostenson was doing field work in connection with Project Chariot. The slides were taken in and around Point Hope and Kivalina, 1960 and 1961.

Historical
Biologist Burton Ostenson was assigned to Point Hope, Alaska, to participate in the study of marine mammals during the hunting season, November 1960 through June 1961. Using information from the study Mr. Ostenson co-authored Chapter 33 titled Marine Mammals in the manuscript Environment of the Cape Thompson Region, Alaska published by the United States Atomic Energy Commission, 1966.

The slide carousel in box 2, photographs 1-54, have been digitized and are available to view via VILDA.
Processing Information
Slides from carousel have been scanned and rehoused in archival safe sleeves. All other slides have also been rehoused in archival safe sleeves.
