Scope and Contents
This collection contains several hand drawn maps showing cross sections of headlands and navigational courses, navigational calculations, and hand drawn charts of how to dock a vessel at various Southeast Alaska canneries. The first folder has instructions on how to use the captain’s portable pelorus. There are miscellaneous notes and correspondence regarding his work and a book of tables for navigation.

Biographical
Captain Victor Seidelhuber was Master of a U.S. Navy tanker in the Aleutian Islands during 1951-1952. He patented a portable Pelorus, or navigation device on Nov. 23, 1937 (Patent #2,099,772). He wrote a book titled: No More Seasickness; Cause, Suggestions and Practical Hints to Avoid Seasickness Aboard Ship; Use and Application of the Soundsleepmask to Eliminate or Minimize Seasickness, published in 1935.
