Scope and Contents
Eleven photographs taken between 1941 and 1946 by Elva Bedford and others, and used as postcards. The negatives (presumably copy negatives) were made by Glen McCreary who was temporarily stationed in Nome in 1944. These images depict scenes of daily life in Pt. Hope.

Biographical
Elva Bedford ran a post card business in Nome during the 1940s. Her daughter, Shirley Wells, is the donor of this collection.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
A large group of negatives was donated by Shirley Wells, of Everett WA to the Resurrection Bay Historical Society in Seward Alaska. The images not depicting Seward were transferred to the Carrie M. McLain Memorial Museum on Nome. The eleven negatives depicting Point Hope were transferred to the Alaska State Library in November of 2002. Accession # 2007-002.

Contact prints were made of the negatives.
