Introduction
Dr. V.V. Ushanoff of Laguna Beach, California emigrated to the United States from Russia. Following his retirement as a dentist in California, he began a concentrated study of Russian Alaska. This included a pictorial history in oil paintings, articles for publication, manuscript books and translation of Russian works into English which are in this collection. Information and transparencies of his artworks are in the library's Photograph Collection Album (PCA) 149; other transparencies and data on Nikolaevsk, Alaska -- the Old Believers Community are in PCA 188.
