This collection contains hand-written short story manuscripts and journals of Charles M. Robinson, a letterpress book, a photo album of what appear to be Alaskan photos, postcards, photographs, and album photo duplicates.

Biographical Note
Charles M. Robinson was born in Illinois. He was an Attorney at Law in Aspen, Colorado, in 1889. Robinson came to Alaska in 1914 to work for the Bureau of Education. He was assigned to a reservation at Tyonek where he oversaw bureau activities for three years. He resigned at the end of that time but after eight years of varied activities along Cook Inlet he re-entered the service of the bureau and returned to Tyonek, where he taught school and officiated as general supervisor over Indian activities.
Mr. Robinson was engaged in other activities while in Alaska. He wrote many short stories which he sold to magazines for publication. In 1915 Robinson was appointed Postmaster at Moquawkie [Tyonek] and in 1916 he was appointed a Special Peace Officer of the Third Division of the District of Alaska.
Charles M. Robinson passed away in Anchorage, Alaska, January 27, 1929.
Daughter, Doris Robinson, was born in Denver, Colorado, October 21, 1899. She attended Arlington High School in Washington through the 1913-1914 term. The family moved to Tyonek, Alaska, in August of 1914. Later Doris worked as a member of the operating staff at the local telephone exchange in Anchorage.

This collection was donated by Jennifer Bledsoe, for Marjorie Applegate, who received the material from a neighbor’s family after the neighbor had passed away. Provenance beyond this information unknown. Acc. # 2014-024.

The manuscript portion of this collection has been described at the item level. The photograph portion has been described at the folder level, and some photographs have been described at the item level. Photographs have been placed in Mylar, and all items placed in pH-neutral folders and Archival boxes. Negatives have been placed in sleeves and then into an archival box.
