Biographical
Carl M. Olsen (1896-1971) of Stanwood, Washington was known as Sergt. Carl M. Olsen, Stanwood. Born 5 Nov 1896. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Nels Olsen, Stanwood. Entered the service from Juneau AK, 5 Dec 1917, and became a member of 20th Co., 20th Engrs. Arrived in France on 4 Mar 1918 and was attached to the French army until 15 Feb 1919. From then until 1 May 1919, he was on detached service with the Sixth Cavalry. Left France 18 May 1919. During his service Private Olsen lost the use of his left eye and suffered a broken leg. Discharged at the Presidio of San Francisco, 14 Jun 1919. Sergeant. 290,046. Brother of Roy Newman Olsen, U. S. Navy. Sergeant Olsen graduated from the Stanwood high school in 1915.
