Scope and Contents
Subjects covered by these stereographs include the Klondike Gold Rush and other mining activities; Eskimos in Alaska, Siberia and Greenland; Alaskan Indians and Alaskan communities.
Companies represented are Keystone; Griffith and Griffith; and Underwood and Underwood. Photographers include H.H. Brodeck, T.W. Ingersoll, B.W. Kilburn, R. Maynard and B.L. Singley.
A stereoscope is available for viewing, in Box 2.

Requests for permission to publish material from the collection must be discussed with the Librarian. Photocopying does not constitute permission to publish.
Historical Note
This collection represents a number of photographers and companies that produced stereographic images in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Photographs were taken by a stereographic camera which had two lenses mounted 2 ½ inches apart. The resulting photographs were mounted on cardboard and viewed in a stereoscope which created a three dimensional effect.

Acquisition
The collection includes donations and purchases. Donors include Jacques Noel Jacobsen, Jr., John Grainger, Jeanette Jenkins, and Susan Arthur. (Acc. Nos.1983-018, 1984-005, 1988-067, 2005-11, and others.) The collection is ongoing; stereographs are added when they are received.
Processing Information
The stereographs are arranged by photographer or publisher. The stereographs have been placed in Mylar, into acid free folders, and then into an Archival box. A stereoscope is available for viewing, in Box 2.
