Content Description
Harry D. Colp came to Wrangell in l898. In 1900, with three others he prospected for gold in an area near Thomas Bay, which became known as the"Devil's Country" in his story. He settled in Petersburg, Alaska, working for various companies and continuing to prospect for gold. His story, “The Strangest Story Ever Told,”written in 1925, was first published posthumously in 1953.
Collection includes Kolp’s original, handwritten manuscript; a typescript by Evan Hill and photocopies of news articles on Harry D. Colp.
