Historical Note
These postcards from Olive Cox’s trip in 1922 include images of Ketchikan, Wrangell, Taku Glacier, Juneau, Mendenhall Glacier, White Pass, Lake Bennett, and Sitka, following the route described for the 1922 season on board the S.S. Queen. This trip, as described in the pamphlet included in the collection, was a twelve day excursion on a steel steamship. The S.S. Queen was scheduled to depart every other Saturday.
Southeastern Alaska Excursions on the S.S. Queen and S.S. Spokane sailed from Seattle to Skagway and back. They made stops in Ketchikan, Wrangell, Petersburg, and Juneau on the “going” trip, and stopped in Sitka before repeating the route in reverse. Excursions cost $80.00. Admiral Line ticket agencies were located in 15 cities. Both the S.S. Queen and S.S. Spokane departed from the port of Seattle.
