Scope and Contents
Documents include: letter of assignment (to teach) dated Oct. 21, 1937, Alaska teaching certificate dated September 1, 1937, a letter dated Nov. 30, 1941, mentioning World War II and the fear of attack by submarines, 1 envelope and one postcard stamped as cleared by wartime censors, and a 1944 identification card from the Alaska Travel Control department.

BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
Bina Mae Cline was born in October 1885, to Dr. William B. Cline and Margret Elize Etta Johanna Cline. Bina Cline never married, and dedicated her life to the Presbyterian Church. November 6, 1937, she was assigned to teach at the Sheldon Jackson School in Sitka, Alaska. According to her Teacher’s Certificate, she received a B.S. degree from Central Missouri State Teachers’ College in Warrensburg, Missouri, in 1926, and apparently also attended Missouri University in 1934.The donor was unsure when and where she died. This collection of historical documents was sent to her sister Dela Cline, wife of Martin Grider and their daughter, Mary Grider Harrison.
