Letter dated 1 June 1877 from Sheldon Jackson, Denver, Colo. to J. S. Brown, Fort Wrangel noting Brown's appeal to the Y.M.C.A. had been forwarded to him and seeking further information necessary to establish a mission at Fort Wrangel. (1 sheet)

Biographical / Historical
Born 1845 at Burton, New Brunswick, Canada. Fought with 7th Maine (age 16-20 went from private to lieutenant). Re-enlisted serving as a Commissary Sergeant 18 years. Stationed at Fort Wrangel in 1877 (Probably there 2 1/2 years). Married at Fort Walla Walla, Wash. in 1878. Served in Washington State 1st Legislature (representing Spokane). Died 1932 at Centralia, Lewis County, Washington, USA.
