This manuscript is about the history of Alaska's newspapers from pre-Klondike, 1866 to post-statehood, 2000. The manuscript will be completed and published by Lew Williams, Jr.

Biographical Note
Evangeline Atwood was a well-known person in Anchorage social and civic life from 1935 until her death in 1988. Co-owner, with her husband Robert, of the Anchorage Times. Author of many books about Alaska politics and history. Founder of many historical and performing arts organizations in Anchorage, including the Alaska Federation of Women's Clubs and Alaska World Affairs Council. She also founded the Alaska Statehood Association, the group that initiated and promoted the idea of Alaska's statehood. She was born in Sitka.
