Biographical Note

Elizabeth (Betty) deCourcy Annis arrived in Juneau, Alaska in 1955 and almost immediately got herself a job as proofreader for the Daily Alaska Empire (now the Juneau Empire). Betty worked for the Empire in various positions from 1955-1957. After leaving the Empire she worked for The Independent for a year, a weekly Juneau paper. Later she served as a secretary at Holy Trinity Church and worked for Clark Gruening, while he was a member of the State House of Representatives, in the 1970s. After Betty stopped writing for the paper, she continued to write letters to the editors of Alaskan papers. This manuscript is a compilation of her writings.
