Near Wrangell - Stickeen R. Edward Barnes arrived in Wrangell around 1864 or 1865 [Stikeen River near Wrangell; logging with oxen.] Barnes Bros. started logging in vicinity of Wrangell with ox teams around 1897 (J. M. Wyckoff, “Lumbering in Alaska,” August 1923 Pathfinder).
