The collection portrays life in Nome, Alaska, during the early 1900s, including images of the sled dog races which began there. Original photographs from the Canadian Arctic Expedition, 1913-1918, identifies Northwest Territory Inuit from Coronation Gulf, Cape Bathurst, Dolphin and Union Straits, and Bernard Harbor. An album created by Dr. Neuman while serving at the Dept. of Interior, titled: "Photomicrographs of Anatomical studies of Cysticercus, taken from Alaskan reindeer," contains micrograph images of tapeworms found in reindeer around Nome. Eskimo tools, implements, and art objects collected by Dr. Neuman are represented in a large number of photographs. Neuman donated many artifacts from his collection to the Alaska State Museum.
