"Mendenhall Glacier Near Juneau, Alaska". This is one of the few glaciers in the world accessible by automobile road. It is 17 miles long and from 2 to 3 miles wide at its face. Swift streams are forced from under its mountain weight and the sides of the valleys along its course are cut and scarred by pressure of the ice.

"Kenai, Alaska". Kenai, Alaska was established in 1791 by Russian fur traders. In 1846 the first mission was built with hand-hewn logs by a Russian monk. The oil lands of Kenai and Cook Inlet are fast becoming Alaska's major industry in dollar values. Alaska's first commercial oil refinery is in operation here.

"Portage Glacier". Portage Glacier on Kenai Peninsula is located 60 miles south of Anchorage, Alaska. A spectacular view of the floating ice after separating from the glacier can be seen. A good road leads right up to the edge of the lake.
