Scope and Contents From the Collection: The majority of the photographs were taken in 1919, when John Maloney traveled up to Alaska with a “work party” on the S.S. NORTHWESTERN. Several images show construction projects in the area of Seward, Alaska, including work on the railroad bridge at Mile 3. Two photographs, 11 and 17, show John Maloney and others, working on the framework of a large dome, such as would form part of a capitol building. These may be of a project in California, where Maloney lived before and after his trip...
