In 1879, Henry Hendrickson immigrated from Finland to Astoria, Oregon, where he met and married Marie Hannila in 1888. The couple went to Rocklin, California, where Henry worked in nearby marble quarries. In 1894, Henry had moved to Juneau and was working for the Perseverance Mine and operating the "Rocklin House", a boarding house located on the site of the Baranof Hotel (1992).
