This is a rare picture showing the old “240” mine’s stamp mill immediately toward Gastineau Channel from the height of the two smokestacks in the slightly to the right foreground.

Structure in the right center foreground is the Central Hoist and Crushing plant. The long structure to the right of the smokestack and near the water is the “700” Mine’s stamp mill. The fuel oil tank near the water and left of center in the picture was right on the “brink” of the 1917 “cave-in”. Large wooden structure to the left of the tank was an old bunkhouse. The white concrete structure to the left of the smokestack is Treadwell’s main cyanide plant.
