Papers of Sue Prince, 1958 -1973
Scope and Contents
Two bound journals (each 5” x 8”) and one bound master’s dissertation entitled The School in Eskimo Culture comprise the bulk of the papers. One folder includes two photographs of Sue Prince, her master of arts diploma, and a copy of Indian Education (10/15/1965 issue). One journal contains her census of the residents of Point Hope (1958) and of Wainwright (1962). The contents are arranged by village and then alphabetically by family name. The second journal is a brief diary followed by lists of names for the following: Beaver, 1964-1966; Arctic Village, 1966-1968; Galena, 1968-1969; Chevak, 1971-1972; Venetie, 1972-1973. Several folded papers are inserted into the second journal.
