Historical
In 1898 eight men who lived near Arcade, New York, headed for the Klondike gold fields. A diary was kept by Freed S. Wormer and a typescript copy made by Harold G. Schutt of Lindsay, California, who borrowed the original from Wormer's daughter. Harold Schutt's father, Joseph Schutt, made the trip to the Klondike and Rampart City area in 1898 with Mr. Wormer.

Harold Schutt kindly provided the library a copy of the diary typescript and also his edited articles on the Wormer diary from the LINDSAY GAZETTE newspaper published in 1980.
