Hartman and Lucille DeMers Lantern Slide Collection, ca. 1900-1920
Scope and Contents
This is a lantern slide collection depicting people and village life in Southeast Alaska. Slide boxes are labeled Hydaburg, Metlakatla, and Klawock. Other Southeast communities are represented as well. The collection includes an electric lantern slide projector with the label: “Douglas Light Co. Seattle.”

Biographical Note
Hartman and Lucille DeMers lived in Anchorage during the early 1940s. Mr. DeMers worked for Pan American Airlines and Mrs. DeMers was one of the original stewardesses for Northwest Airlines.

Processing Information
The glass lantern slides were removed from 11 Eastman Lantern Slide Plates boxes. The empty boxes are in a box in the Empty Negative Sleeves and Empty Boxes file cabinet in the vault. The glass lantern slides were placed in acid free sleeves and then into an Archival box. No item level inventory is available.
