Biographical
David Yates was born in Illinois, but followed the gold rushes first to the Cassiar District and then to Juneau and Wrangel. He worked at Sumdum in the early 1900s, but then went to Windham Bay where he took up claims and remained there the rest of his life. He married in 1905; his wife became postmistress of Windham.
