Biographical

Dr. R. Harrison Leer, was a Juneau physician and certified ophthalmologist. He was born in Dunsmuir, California, December 28, 1920, and moved to Cordova when he was 10 years old. He attended the University of Alaska and graduated with a degree in medicine from the University of Oregon. He practiced in Petersburg, Alaska, then returned to school for his degree in ophthalmology. He practiced medicine in Juneau from 1952 until he suddenly became ill in Haines while conducting a clinic. Dr. Leer died in Seattle at the University of Washington Hospital December 15, 1967, thirteen days before his 49th birthday.
