Gastineau Pioneers Book Committee Files, 1999-2004
Scope and Contents
The files were kept by the Gastineau Pioneers Book Committee as they compiled information on Juneau families for the book, Gastineau Channel Memories, 1880-1959. Files contain correspondence, articles and, sometimes, photos sent by families for inclusion in the book. Each family’s file also includes a draft of the story’s form as condensed for use in the book. As the title states the bulk of the information covers the period from ca. 1880 to 1959.
Box 2, Acc. #2004-62 contains the files kept for Gastineau Channel Memories, 1880-1967, Vol. II.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
The Alaska State Library received the collection from Betty West Miller representing the Gastineau Pioneers Book Committee, Acc. #2001-67, in September 2001. Addition to collection, received from Marie Darlin of the Gastineau Pioneers Book Committee, October 2004, Acc. #2004-62.
Processing Information
The files’ original order and labels were retained. Files were transferred to acid-free containers. Files are arranged in alphabetical order by family name. Acc. #2004-62 files retained in original folders; will require further processing.
