Byron Roherty Scrapbook, 1959
Scope and Contents
This scrapbook contains memorabilia of Byron Roherty's trip to Alaska on Alaska Cruise Line's Cruise Tour no.5, on the S. S. Yukon Star between May 26 and June 18, 1959. The collection includes photographs, newspaper clippings, postcards, brochures, tickets and an itinerary for the trip.
Included are newspaper accounts of travel in Alaska, including several written by Betty Dudley, a fellow passenger on Tour no. 5 in 1959.
Places visited include Ketchikan, Juneau, Haines, Whitehorse, Tok, Fairbanks, the Tanana River, McKinley National Park, Anchorage, the Matanuska Valley, and the Portage Glacier.
The collection also contains newspaper clippings from the Travel section of the Chicago Tribune and the Vista Interstate, feature magazine of the Beliot Daily News. The four Vista Interstate articles, written by Dr. Martin T. Bergsjo, are called Bergsjo’s Alaska, and document Dr. Bergsjo’s 1966 trip to Alaska.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
Byron Roherty's scrapbook was donated by Dennis and Sally Crabtree in 2006, Acc. no. 2006-045. Sally Crabtree is the niece of Mr. Roherty.
Processing Information
The album is in fragile condition. Some album pages are loose. Loose newspaper articles were photocopied on acid free paper and discarded.
