Letter, April 23, 1889, written by Anna Pressnall Moon, signed Silas R. and Anna Pressnall Moon, Douglas, Alaska, to her sister Elizabeth [Pressnall] Stanton concerning the first years of their Quaker missionary work building a school in Douglas, Alaska.

Biographical Note
Silas and Anna were married in 1883 in Indiana. They first came to Douglas, Alaska, in 1887 as missionaries to assist with the Quaker school. Silas helped build the log school and Anna taught there. In 1894, Silas began the mission in Kake, Alaska, remaining for more than a decade. In 1906, the family moved to Idaho. Anna Moon died in Greenleaf Idaho, in 1910. Silas remarried and moved to Newberg, Oregon, where he died in 1932.
