Historical Note

Arts Alaska, Inc. received a grant from the Alaska State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts for a Playwrights' Competition for Alaskans. Entries were limited to original one act plays designed to be performed without intermission in 60 minutes or less, which had not been professionally produced. There were no restrictions on subject matter or form. Winning entries were to be announced by April 3, 1978.

Acquisition

Seventy playwrights placed a deposit copy of their plays in the Alaska State Library. There is a list of the nine plays which were not received.

The plays are arranged by author in three document boxes. First place and merit award winners are indicated.
