Scope and Contents
Alaska Native Rights and History Collection, 1741-1990. Material collected while researching the legal status of Alaska Natives and the history of Natives in Alaska before the Purchase of Alaska in 1867. Included are items on the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act and precedents; interview notes with Tlingits by Philip Drucker, Bureau of Indian Affairs draft 1948 report of economic survey of Southeast villages by Margaret Landis and Varden Fuller, and Paz Cabello's writings on artifacts from the Spanish voyages of discovery found in Madrid's Museo de America; a working copy of Price's bibliography, excerpts from papers of Viola Garfield and reports by Major Jefferson Columbus Davis.

Biograpical
Robert E. Price is a lawyer who has worked in the state of Alaska for many years, specializing in his interest, native history and native rights. His locally produced publications include bibliographies relating to Alaska Native through 1867 and Alaska Natives relationship with Federal and State Government.
